I'm in Rome, finally made it to the Trevi Fountain, and it's exactly as chaotic and gorgeous as everyone says. I toss my coin for good luck (when in Rome...) and promptly get bumped by someone trying to take the perfect selfie. Cue a slow-motion disaster – splat! My pistachio gelato takes a swan dive right onto the cobblestones.

Now, the old me would have been mortified. But honestly? It was hilarious. It even broke the ice with a nice local couple who gave me insider tips on where to find the NON-touristy gelato (life-changing stuff, seriously).

Speaking of hidden gems, remember that hidden-away trattoria we stumbled upon in Florence? That hole-in-the-wall spot with the hand-made pasta and the nonna yelling orders in the kitchen? Just like Florence, think of Umbria as the slower, sweeter side of Italy.
